Wendi Batts : She's a 1der

On August 22, 2022, I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that had metastasized to my liver, lymph nodes, and bones! We were shocked!! I was 63 years old but I worked out, I was very active, traveled, very healthy, a non-smoker and felt like a 30 year old!

This was a total shock to our family! After all the testing and waiting and more testing and more waiting I started chemotherapy and immunotherapy, by mid-December I thought I’d never make til summer and I’d never get to travel with my husband ever again. Finally my oncologist called us in and told me they had found my gene mutation, I am ROS1 positive.

In December 28, 2022 I started taking new medication and by my next CT Scan on February 27, 2023 all of my tumors had shrunk tremendously! I’m so grateful to all the doctors and scientists that work so hard to find these gene mutations and this targeted treatment!

My husband and I just returned from a 19 day trip to Italy and it was fantastic!! I feel like I’ve been given a second chance to live my life to the fullest!
